Lean hog futures increased by 25 to 80 cents on Wednesday, while the USDA reported a national base hog price of $94.37, a decrease of 38 cents from the previous day. The CME Lean Hog Index rose by 14 cents to $91.65 on June 1.
Additionally, the USDA reported a pork carcass cutout value of $100.15 per cwt, down 44 cents, with declines noted in the loin, rib, and belly primals. The federally inspected hog slaughter was estimated at 487,000 head for Tuesday, bringing the weekly total to 984,000 head, which is an increase of 17,165 head compared to the same week last year.
Current prices for June 26 Hogs are at $96.150 (up $0.450), July 26 Hogs at $101.900 (up $0.250), and August 26 Hogs at $99.775 (up $0.800).
