Wind power has surpassed solar and nuclear energy in global electricity generation, currently holding an 8.1% market share compared to solar’s 6.9%. The wind industry achieved a record in installations last year, solidifying its status as a key player in the renewable energy landscape, according to the Global Wind Energy Council.

By 2030, wind energy is projected to account for nearly one-third of all renewable electricity growth, with offshore wind deployments expected to grow by 116% compared to a 47% increase in onshore installations. The International Energy Agency indicates that offshore wind turbines operate more efficiently, generating power 40%-50% of the time compared to 25%-35% for onshore turbines.

Costs for onshore wind energy have dropped 69% since 2010, making it the cheapest source of new electricity globally. Despite growth challenges in the U.S., international trends show a significant rise in wind energy investments, driven by economic motivations and security needs amid increasing energy demands.
