Netflix Abandons Warner Bros. Acquisition
Netflix’s efforts to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, valued at $82.7 billion, have been halted. The decision comes after investors expressed concerns about potential debt and complexities arising from such a deal. Since abandoning the acquisition, Netflix’s shares have surged by 24% in the past month, indicating positive investor sentiment.
Currently, Netflix boasts approximately 325 million subscribers globally, compared to HBO Max’s 130 million. The company’s profits doubled to $11 billion in 2025, demonstrating its effective growth strategy without the need for acquisitions. Analysts suggest that Netflix’s solid financials and growth prospects justify its stock valuation, which stands at 38 times its trailing earnings.
