On Wednesday, Nvidia saw a significant rise of 3.8%, contributing 0.38 percentage points to the Nasdaq Composite’s gain, pushing it to a 0.4% increase as of 12:55 p.m. ET. The S&P 500 also rose by 0.5%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.4%. This modest uptick follows a lower opening for all three major indexes.
New York Fed President John Williams commented that the recent surge in Treasury yields is indicative of a robust economy, influenced by investments in AI and data centers. Analysts are forecasting a 66% chance of a small rate hike in the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting on September 15-16.
Despite ongoing strikes around the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices showed minimal movement, inching up by only 0.2%. Gold prices, however, gained 1%, breaking a recent correlation trend with Bitcoin, which declined by 0.1%.
