Nvidia Partners with Nokia for AI-Driven Wireless Networks
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has acquired a $1 billion stake in Nokia (NYSE: NOK) to co-develop artificial intelligence-powered radio access networks (RAN) aimed at the emerging $200 billion AI-telecoms market. This investment, approximately 8% of Nvidia’s portfolio, is part of a strategic shift to realign the company’s focus from non-core investments toward sectors that complement its AI infrastructure goals.
The partnership between Nvidia and Nokia will leverage Nvidia’s CUDA-accelerated computing platform and new RAN technology to modernize Nokia’s AirScale baseband solutions. By integrating AI capabilities into RAN systems, both companies aim to enhance network efficiency and prepare for the transition from 5G to 6G. The addressable market for AI-RAN is projected to exceed $200 billion by 2030, highlighting the significant potential for revenue diversification for both firms.
