Nvidia Announces Historic $150 Billion Share Repurchase Increase
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has authorized a significant $150 billion increase to its share repurchase program, bringing the total up to $235 billion. This move represents the largest share repurchase increase ever for the company and will be executed over the next fiscal year, starting in late January 2027.
The announcement comes as Nvidia’s stock has seen a 20% gain this year but lacks the explosive momentum of previous years, with its share price and annual revenue both climbing over 700% and 800%, respectively, in the last five years. Concerns over economic factors like rising inflation and a rapid AI infrastructure pace have contributed to the stock’s recent valuation drop, now at about 24 times forward earnings estimates.
Nvidia remains a leader in the AI chip market, producing some of the fastest GPUs essential for AI tasks. The company anticipates considerable growth in the AI market, projected to surpass $1 trillion by the early 2030s, reaffirming the board’s confidence in the long-term potential wrapped in this latest financial strategy.
