Nvidia’s Investment in SpaceX Surges Amid IPO Challenges
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has reported a significant investment in Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), now its second-largest public holding, valued at nearly $21 billion as of the end of June. This follows SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO) on June 12, which marked the largest IPO in Wall Street’s history. Nvidia holds 122,764,805 shares of SpaceX, bolstered by its earlier $10 billion investment in AI startup xAI in January 2026.
Despite the initial hype of SpaceX’s IPO, the company faces considerable challenges, including a staggering increase in capital expenditures in its AI sector, which rose from $3.32 billion in 2025 to $23.55 billion in 2026. While SpaceX experienced a 92% rise in quarterly sales, it reported significant losses, raising concerns over its financial stability and future growth prospects.
