Nvidia’s AI Chip Production Surges Ahead of Schedule
Nvidia’s new Rubin architecture has reached full production six months ahead of its planned timeline, amid a global shortage of AI-capable chips. The announcement was made by CEO Jensen Huang at CES this week, significantly addressing the rising demand from cloud infrastructure operators. The architecture features six chips, including a superchip, that offer a 10x reduction in inference token costs and require four times fewer GPUs for specific models compared to the previous Blackwell platform.
This production milestone comes as companies like Microsoft reported a 40% year-over-year growth in its Azure cloud services for fiscal Q1 2026, yet still struggled to meet demand due to capacity constraints. The swift rollout of Nvidia’s chips is expected to support cloud operators in overcoming these challenges, potentially driving increased sales and revenue for the company.
