Nvidia and Micron Technology: Key Financial Insights
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) holds a $5.3 trillion valuation, while Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) is valued at $1.1 trillion. Both companies are poised to benefit significantly from the anticipated AI build-out, with Nvidia forecasting nearly $800 billion in data center capital expenditures from the five largest AI hyperscalers in 2026, projected to increase to $1.3 trillion by 2027. Micron’s memory chips, including DRAM used in Nvidia’s GPUs, are in high demand, leading the firm to expect continued strong performance.
Micron anticipates 88% revenue growth, edging out Nvidia’s expected 70% growth for the coming year. Currently, Micron benefits from a supply-demand imbalance in the memory chip market, with prices high due to demand outpacing supply. The supply crunch is expected to last until 2028 as Micron expands its production facilities in response.
In terms of valuation, Micron trades at 6.25 times its fiscal year 2027 earnings, whereas Nvidia is priced at 14 times its fiscal year 2028 earnings. This combination of faster growth, lower valuation, and ongoing industry constraints positions Micron favorably against Nvidia in the near term.
