Tesla has launched a retro-futuristic diner and drive-in movie theater, named the Tesla Diner and Drive-In, at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard, featuring 80 v4 Supercharger stalls and two large LED movie screens. The facility includes an innovative in-car ordering system, emphasizing a lifestyle combined with utility.
During the soft launch, the highlight was Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, which interacted with customers, serving popcorn autonomously. This marks a significant step in the humanoid robotics sector, showcasing the robot’s utility in a public environment, shifting the narrative from speculative future tech to practical application.
Looking ahead, Tesla plans to integrate humanoid robots for various tasks by 2025, aiming for commercial sales in 2026 and consumer availability by 2027 at a projected price between $20,000 and $30,000. Analysts predict that the humanoid market could exceed $5 trillion by 2050, driven by demographic shifts and increasing demand for automation in various labor-intensive sectors.
