Billionaire Peter Thiel Sells Key Stake in Tesla and Microsoft

Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir Technologies, sold his entire stake in both Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) during Q4 2022. Previously, these two stocks made up 73% of Thiel Macro’s portfolio in Q3. Tesla is currently trading at around $349 per share with a median analyst target of $460, indicating a potential 32% upside. Microsoft shares sit at about $370 with a median target of $600, representing a possible 60% increase.

Tesla, despite facing challenges in the EV market, is looking to expand its robotaxi service while analysts predict autonomous ridesharing will become a trillion-dollar market by 2032. Meanwhile, Microsoft is grappling with investor concerns regarding its AI strategy and a significant drop in stock value, down nearly 25% in the first quarter of 2023, its worst performance since 2008.
