Anthropic Set for IPO

Anthropic, a rapidly growing AI company, plans to go public in October 2026 and is targeting a valuation of at least $1 trillion, following its latest funding round that valued the company at $965 billion in May 2026.

As a result of an $8 billion investment in 2024 and a $5 billion investment earlier in 2026, Amazon holds a 21% stake in Anthropic, which may exceed $210 billion if the IPO valuation is achieved. In the second quarter of 2026, Amazon reported a 245% increase in net income, significantly influenced by its investment in Anthropic, which contributed $53.4 billion to its “other” net income.

Anthropic reported an annual revenue increase from $9 billion at the end of 2025 to $47 billion in mid-May 2026 and anticipates turning a positive operating profit for the first time in Q2 2026. Amazon’s reliance on Anthropic for cloud services and AI infrastructure could provide substantial returns as the company’s growth aligns with Amazon Web Services profitability.
