Intel Secures Major Deal with Google
Intel’s foundry unit has gained traction with a new contract from Google, which has ordered over three million Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for delivery by 2028. This order reflects the rising demand for Google’s custom AI processors, which outclass traditional graphics cards for inference workloads. Intel’s foundry business generated $5.4 billion in revenue during Q1 2026, representing a 16% increase year-over-year and accounting for 40% of Intel’s total revenue.
The deal comes amid Intel’s challenges, including concerns about stock valuation and competition from companies like Nvidia. Despite a 16% drop from its 52-week high on May 11, Intel’s stock has skyrocketed 427% over the past year. Analysts predict continued earnings growth due to the momentum of its foundry business, indicating a potential for further stock appreciation.
