Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) has announced a $5,000 price increase for its Cybertruck models in the United States. The starting price for the Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck now stands at $74,990, up from $69,990, while the Premium AWD variant is now priced at $84,990, an increase from $79,990. This change marks a notable shift from Tesla’s earlier strategy of reducing prices to boost demand.
The decision to raise prices comes as the global electric vehicle (EV) market is projected to grow from $1.15 trillion in 2025 to $1.86 trillion by 2035. Tesla had previously expanded the Cybertruck lineup, introducing a more affordable variant for $59,990 earlier this year, and reducing the price of the Cyberbeast by $15,000 to $99,990.
Comparatively, Tesla’s current price hikes represent 7.1% and 6.3% increases for the Dual Motor and Premium AWD variants, respectively. Despite the price increases, there have been no reported changes in the powertrain or features of the models, indicating that customers are not receiving added value for the higher costs.
