Ford Motor Company is recalling 412,774 Explorer SUVs in the United States due to a rear toe link fracture that could lead to a loss of steering control, potentially increasing the risk of a crash. This recall affects certain 2017–2019 Explorer models, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommending dealers replace the defective toe links at no cost to owners. There have been two reported incidents globally linked to this issue, but no injuries have been reported.

In addition, Ford is recalling 40,655 vehicles for battery problems and brake pedal defects that could elevate crash risks. Notably, Ford issued over 100 recalls last year, more than any other U.S. automaker. In January, the company recalled more than 116,000 vehicles due to fire risks associated with faulty engine block heaters, impacting models such as the 2013-2019 Ford Escape and others.
