SpaceX Plans Public Offering with Ambitious Valuation
SpaceX aims to go public soon, having filed its S-1 prospectus in early April 2023. The company, led by Elon Musk, targets a valuation of $2 trillion, positioning it among the world’s most valuable companies despite current unprofitability, reporting a GAAP operating loss of $2.6 billion in 2022. The projected revenue for 2025 is $18.7 billion.
SpaceX’s ambitious strategies extend beyond space exploration, including its satellite internet service Starlink and its AI operations through xAI. The company claims an addressable market of $28.5 trillion, heavily focused on its AI segment, which it values at $22.7 trillion. However, analysts caution that this market projection might be overly optimistic given the company’s current revenue status, which is less than 0.1% of its claimed addressable market.
