Revenue Insights: Comparing Ford Motor and Tesla in the Automotive Industry

Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) reported a revenue of $46.2 billion for Q3 2024, surpassing Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) $25.2 billion. Over the last eight quarters, Ford has consistently generated higher total revenue than Tesla, despite the latter’s faster rate of revenue growth. Both companies exhibited volatile quarter-over-quarter revenue patterns, characterized by fluctuations between periods of contraction and rebound.

In September, Ford announced a joint venture with Geely Auto in Spain to manufacture multi-energy vehicles while initiating a safety recall for certain U.S. and Canadian trucks due to faulty fuel tank hardware. During the same period, Tesla launched a robotaxi service in Texas and ramped up production of its commercial electric truck.

From Q4 2024 to Q2 2026, Ford’s projected revenues range from $45.9 billion to $50.5 billion per quarter, while Tesla’s forecasts display a more modest range, with estimates from $19.3 billion to $28.1 billion. Investors should monitor the revenue gap between the two automakers to see if it narrows or stabilizes in future quarters.
