ARM Holdings Announces New AI-Focused Chip
ARM Holdings, a British software design company, has announced the development of its first in-house AI-focused data center chip aimed at powering Agentic AI. This announcement was made on Tuesday, with Meta Platforms serving as the anchor customer for the chip. CEO Rene Haas projects that this new venture could yield approximately $15 billion in annual revenue within five years, a significant increase from ARM’s 2025 revenue of around $4 billion.
ARM operates on a high-margin, asset-light business model, boasting a gross margin of 97.5%. The company licenses its processor architecture to major tech firms, benefiting from ongoing demand for its Armv9 architecture in premium smartphone and data center markets. Analysts expect ARM’s revenue to grow by approximately 20% over the coming years, prompting potential revisions to forecasted figures as the market assesses the implications of the new AI chip.
