**Natural Gas Prices Rise Amid Strong Exports and Warmer Weather Forecasts**
On Friday, September Nymex natural gas (NGU26) closed at +0.022, a gain of 0.83%. This increase is attributed to robust US natural gas exports, which reached an estimated 18.6 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/day), the highest in four weeks. Concurrent forecasts signaling warmer weather across the Northeast and western US are expected to boost electricity demand for air conditioning through August 12.
Despite these factors, natural gas prices faced pressures earlier in the week due to a larger-than-expected storage build that saw inventories rise by 33 bcf, pushing supplies 6.7% above the five-year seasonal average. As of August 4, US dry gas production stood at 112.3 bcf/day, reflecting a 2.3% yearly increase, while the number of active drilling rigs decreased by three to 124, below the three-year high of 134 set in February 2026.
