Sanofi is currently reviewing its late-stage development pipeline under new leadership, as Chief Scientific Officer Mike Quigley announced at a Bank of America event. The review aims to enhance decision-making and transparency while aligning the company’s focus on immunology, inflammation, rare diseases, and vaccines. Notably, Sanofi has faced setbacks, having previously terminated multiple programs including amlitelimab and itepekimab. The firm is actively evaluating external opportunities across various development stages.

The company seeks a balanced approach, targeting approximately 50% of innovation from internal sources and 50% from external collaborations. Quigley indicated ongoing discussions with Regeneron to maximize their partnership in areas such as dermatology and respiratory diseases, with assets like lunsekimig being considered for inclusion. Sanofi also anticipates upcoming Phase II results for its program on hidradenitis suppurativa and is in regulatory talks regarding its multiple sclerosis candidate, frexalimab.

Quigley pointed out that recent first-in-human starts have been unsatisfactory, but expects a rebound in the Phase I pipeline starting this year and extending into 2028. The upcoming third-quarter earnings call in October is expected to provide further insights into these strategic developments.
