**Shopify Reports Significant Growth in AI-Driven Commerce**

Shopify Inc. (SHOP) announced that during the second quarter of 2026, both AI-driven traffic and orders to its stores tripled year over year. Notably, new buyer orders through AI channels increased at nearly twice the rate of other channels. This surge indicates that AI is becoming a crucial tool for product discovery among merchants, particularly for niche categories; 75% of AI-attributed orders came from outside the top 100 product categories.

The company’s Catalog infrastructure improves the accessibility of product information for AI agents, leading to search conversion rates nearly 80% higher than traditional organic search. Additionally, half of AI-referred sessions directed users to product pages, significantly outpacing traditional search referrals by 2.5 times. Despite these advances, Shopify’s shares have declined by 6.5% year to date, while the broader tech sector has seen a return of 16.9%.

The consensus estimate for Shopify’s 2026 earnings stands at $1.84 per share, reflecting a projected growth of 57.26% year-over-year. As the landscape for AI-driven commerce continues to evolve, Shopify aims to reinforce its infrastructure to enable merchants to capitalize on these emerging channels.
