Should You Invest in Nvidia or AMD Stock Following Their New AI Platform Launches?

Nvidia and AMD presented their latest AI technologies during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas from January 6-9, 2026. Nvidia launched its Vera Rubin AI computing platform, which is in full production and designed for advanced AI workloads. Positioned as a significant advancement for data-center scale AI, the Vera Rubin superchip integrates CPUs and GPUs and will be utilized by Microsoft for next-generation AI applications.

Simultaneously, AMD introduced its Helios AI platform, targeting yotta-scale infrastructure and leveraging its Instinct MI455X GPUs. AMD also expanded its product lineup with new Ryzen AI processors aimed at various sectors, including automotive and industrial applications. In recent stock performance, AMD has seen +200% returns over the last three years compared to Nvidia’s impressive +1,100%. However, AMD’s stock spiked +70% in 2025, outpacing Nvidia’s nearly +40% return.

Looking ahead, AMD’s earnings per share for fiscal year 2025 is projected to reach $3.96, with a 58% increase to $6.26 expected for FY26. In contrast, Nvidia’s earnings estimates have shown a positive outlook, with FY26 EPS expected to rise to $4.66, up 56% from $2.99 in FY25.
