Significant Friday Options Trading: DVA, NKE, OXY

On October 4, 2023, notable options trading activity was reported for three companies within the S&P 500: DaVita Inc (DVA), Nike (NKE), and Occidental Petroleum Corp (OXY). DaVita recorded a trading volume of 4,493 options contracts, equivalent to approximately 449,300 underlying shares, which is 46.8% of its average daily trading volume of 959,575 shares. A particularly high number of 2,170 contracts for the $155 strike call option expiring May 15, 2026, was noted.

Nike experienced an options trading volume of 87,488 contracts, representing about 8.7 million underlying shares, or 44.9% of its average daily volume of 19.5 million shares. The $42.50 strike call option expiring June 18, 2026, saw significant activity with 13,378 contracts traded.

Occidental Petroleum reported 53,692 contracts traded, equating to approximately 5.4 million underlying shares, about 42.8% of its average daily volume of 12.5 million shares. The $57 strike call option, set to expire on May 15, 2026, had high volume with 7,887 contracts traded.
