Sinova Global announced on Thursday the re-opening of its Sinova quartz quarry near Golden, British Columbia. This quarry, known for its 99.8%-pure hard rock quartz, will supply high-purity silicon metal essential for aluminum, steel manufacturing, semiconductor technology, and solar energy generation.
The quarry is fully permitted and has road and rail access to Sinova’s silicon metal plant under construction in Tiptonville, Tennessee. The company is advancing the project with government support and detailed environmental plans aimed at minimizing adverse impacts, including considerations for safety, wildlife, and water management.
Sinova Global’s CEO, Jayson Tymko, emphasized the significance of this reopening in ensuring a secure supply chain for critical minerals in North America. The construction and quartz extraction will be led by local contractor Speers Construction, fostering community ties.
