Market Updates on Technology Investing
The Nasdaq-100 technology index is currently down 8% from its recent peak in 2026, while the Roundhill Generative AI and Technology ETF (NYSEMKT: CHAT) has seen a 20% decline but still boasts a 40% year-to-date return. The ETF, which holds 52 artificial intelligence stocks, is trading for under $85 per share, down from its record high.
Approximately 70% of the Nasdaq-100 index’s value comes from technology stocks, leading to higher volatility during uncertain market conditions. Despite recent dips, the Roundhill ETF has returned 220% since its inception in May 2023, significantly outperforming the Nasdaq-100 during the same period.
Investors should note the ETF’s expense ratio of 0.75%, considerably higher than typical index funds, which raises concerns about its suitability as a core holding without diversification.
