Soybean Market Experiencing Year-End Challenges

Soybean futures fell by 11 to 12 cents on New Year’s Eve, with January beans seeing 1,062 deliveries. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price dropped to $9.67, down 12 cents. Soymeal futures remained steady to $2.10 per ton lower, while soy oil futures gained 7 to 15 points. The market will close for New Year’s Day and reopen at 8:30 AM CST on Friday.

In the USDA’s weekly report for the week ending December 18, 1.056 million metric tons (MMT) of soybeans were sold, falling short of trade expectations between 1.4 and 2.4 MMT and down 55.94% from the previous week but up 7.9% from the same week last year. Soymeal sales were recorded at 299,131 MT, while soy oil sales reached 49,197 MT, exceeding estimates of 0-24,000 MT, with net reductions of 23,500 MT for the 2026/27 season.
