Soybean Prices Decline as 2026 Trading Begins

**Soybean Market Update – January 26, 2026**

Soybean contracts closed down by a penny to three cents in the initial 2026 session, with March contracts down 26 ¾ cents for the week. The cmdtyView national average cash price for soybeans increased by 6 ¼ cents, settling at $9.70. Notably, soymeal futures dropped between $2.30 and $4.10 per ton, while March future contracts fell by $11.40. Conversely, soy oil futures rose by 61 to 80 points, with March settling up 8 points for the week.

The USDA is expected to release export sales data on Monday, January 29, for the week ending December 25, forecasting soybean bookings between 0.7 to 1.8 million metric tons for the 2025/26 marketing year. Additionally, November crush data indicated 220.48 million bushels of soybeans crushed, down 6.7% from the previous month but up 4.98% year-over-year. Soybean oil stocks on November 30 were reported at 2.16 billion pounds, exceeding estimates and up 33.72% from last year.
