Soybean Prices Decline Despite Significant Export Sales Announcements

Soybean trading showed midday losses of 1 to 3 cents at $12.19 3/4 for September contracts on Friday, with the national average Cash Bean price decreasing to $11.98 3/4. The USDA reported sales of 712,000 MT of soybeans to China and 720,000 MT to unknown destinations.

The ProFarmer Crop Tour revealed Iowa’s soybean pod counts averaged 1,362.93 pods per 3-foot square, marking a 1.55% decline from last year and a 5.19% increase compared to the three-year average. In Minnesota, pod counts rose by 0.89% from last year to 1,257.8, and are 15.4% above the three-year average.

Additionally, export sales data indicated that 2025/26 soybean sales reached 39.992 MMT, down 18% year-over-year but matching the sales pace of recent years, while new crop commitments hit 11.85 MMT, twice that of the same week last year. Sinograin in China is set to auction 290,000 MT of imported soybeans next Wednesday.
