SpaceX IPO Update

Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) raised $85.7 billion in its IPO on June 12, marking the largest capital raise in history, surpassing Saudi Aramco’s $29.4 billion in 2019. However, shares have since dropped 45% from a peak of $225.64 on June 16, trading below $124 as of July 17.

SpaceX’s insiders are set for a staggered and accelerated unlock period beginning shortly after their first quarterly report on August 6, amid concerns over the company’s high valuation of 42 times projected sales—a level that has historically led to sharp declines. Additionally, the company plans to raise further capital through a $25 billion bond offering and potential equity sales to fund AI infrastructure, which could exert additional downward pressure on stock prices.
