Stock Drops After Q4 Earnings Reveal Yearly Revenue Decline for Aware

Aware, Inc. (AWRE) reported a fourth-quarter revenue of $4.7 million for the period ending December 31, 2025, a decline of 2.8% from $4.8 million in the previous year. The company’s net loss widened to $1.5 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, compared to a loss of $1.2 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2024. For the full year, Aware’s revenues totaled $17.3 million, down 0.6% year-over-year, with a net loss of $5.9 million, up from a loss of $4.4 million in 2024.

Key metrics show an 18.3% decline in software license revenue to $2.1 million, contrasted by a 7.4% rise in maintenance revenue to $2.3 million and a 96.6% increase in services revenue to $0.3 million during Q4. Recurring revenue increased to $3.5 million, a 4.7% rise from a year earlier. Non-recurring revenue fell 19.3% to $1.2 million, heavily impacted by lower license sales.

Management noted challenges related to government procurement cycles affecting revenue variability, particularly in biometric projects. Aware did not provide formal guidance for 2026 but indicated anticipated uneven quarterly results, focusing on converting pilot programs into production deployments and expanding recurring revenue streams.
