**Sugar Prices Update: March 2026 Contracts**
On January 15, 2024, March NY world sugar #11 closed at $15.31 per pound, up 0.59%, matching a 2.25-month high. Concurrently, March London ICE white sugar #5 fell to $431.70 per ton, down 0.14%.
The mixed price movement reflects contrasting forecasts from Brazil and India. A recent report by consulting firm Safras & Mercado indicates Brazil’s sugar production for 2026/27 is expected to fall 3.91% to 41.8 million metric tons (MMT). In contrast, the India Sugar Mill Association revised their projection for India’s sugar production in 2025/26 up to 31 MMT, an 18.8% increase year-over-year, amid hopes of greater exports.
Globally, the International Sugar Organization forecasts a 1.625 million MT surplus for 2025/26, driven by increased production in India, Thailand, and Pakistan, coupled with an overall production increase of 3.2% to 181.8 million MT.
