As of October, New York world sugar #11 (SBV25) fell by $0.07 to $15.13 (-0.46%), while December London ICE white sugar #5 (SWZ25) decreased by $0.50 to $442.50 (-0.11%). This comes after a significant drop earlier in the week, with NY sugar hitting a 4.25-year low and London sugar a 4-year low, fueled by increased sugar production in Brazil, which rose by 18% year-on-year to 3.872 million tons in the second half of August, according to Unica.

Additionally, the International Sugar Organization (ISO) forecasts a global sugar deficit of 231,000 metric tons for the 2025/26 season, continuing a streak of deficits; however, global sugar production is expected to rise by 3.3% year-on-year to 180.6 million metric tons. India’s sugar production for 2025/26 is predicted to increase by 19% to 34.9 million metric tons, while favorable weather in the country is expected to bolster its sugar crop significantly.
