Nuclear energy is experiencing a resurgence, driven by utilities seeking to meet rising clean electricity demands. The recent restart of a U.S. nuclear facility marks a significant revival in the sector, bolstered by long-term agreements from companies like Meta Platforms, which secured up to 6.6 gigawatts of nuclear capacity by 2035 through partnerships with Vistra Corp., TerraPower, and Oklo Inc.. Additionally, a prior agreement with Constellation Energy to procure 1.12 gigawatts of clean nuclear power further emphasizes nuclear’s growing role in the energy mix.
Within the industry, Vistra Corp. boasts six nuclear reactors licensed to generate over 6,500 megawatts of emission-free energy. Furthermore, Oklo Inc. is advancing small modular reactors, recently signing an agreement to supply nearly 1.2 gigawatts to Meta’s data centers. Collectively, these developments signal a strategic shift in energy investment, with nuclear stocks like NextEra Energy, Vistra, and Oklo emerging as attractive options amidst increasing demand.
