Barrick Gold (TSX: ABX; NYSE: GOLD) has declared its intention to venture into uncharted territories by seeking out new gold and copper deposits in the Democratic Republic of Congo in collaboration with the government. The acclaimed, second-largest gold entity worldwide plans to delve deeper into the region, following the resounding success of its operations at the Kibali gold mine in northeastern DRC. Remarkably, the mine produced 343,000 ounces of gold in 2023, constituting a sizeable 8.5% of the company’s total output for the year.
