Tesla Reports Strong Q2 Deliveries

Tesla delivered 480,126 electric vehicles in the second quarter of 2023, marking a 25% increase from the same period last year and surpassing Wall Street’s estimate of 406,000. This performance reflects a rebound in demand, reportedly driven by rising oil and gas prices due to tensions in the Middle East. The last significant year-over-year growth in deliveries occurred nearly two years ago, in Q3 2021.

Despite the encouraging delivery numbers, Tesla’s stock declined post-announcement, highlighting a complex market reaction. CEO Elon Musk’s previous political activities are estimated to have cost the company between 1 million and 1.26 million potential deliveries. As of now, Tesla is valued at $1.2 trillion, with ongoing projects such as robotaxis and humanoid robots seen as pivotal for future growth.
