Tesla’s Q1 2023 Vehicle Delivery Figures Show Mixed Results Amid Competitive Pressure
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) reported a total of 358,023 vehicle deliveries for Q1 2023, which is a 6% increase year-over-year from 336,681 vehicles in Q1 2022, but reflects a 14% decrease from the previous quarter. The deliveries fell short of analysts’ expectations, which predicted 370,000 vehicles.
In total, the company produced 408,386 EVs in the quarter. Tesla faces significant competitive pressures from Chinese manufacturers like BYD and Nio. BYD delivered over 321,000 vehicles in Q1, while Nio reported 83,465 vehicles for the same period, marking an annual increase of 98%.
The contrasting performance indicates that Tesla’s growth trajectory is increasingly impacted by intensified competition in the EV market, particularly from domestic rivals in China.
