Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has launched “Standard” trims for its Model 3 and Model Y, priced at $36,990 and $39,990, respectively. These models feature hardware that enables supervised self-driving capabilities, aiming to expand Tesla’s future Robotaxi service. The vehicles can drive over 300 miles on a single charge and will start shipping later this year, with delivery timelines set for November to December 2025 for Model Y and December 2025 to January 2026 for Model 3.

In the third quarter of 2025, Tesla reported a record 497,100 vehicle deliveries, which is more than 7% year-over-year. However, production lagged behind deliveries, with 447,450 units produced during the same period. This imbalance may affect fourth-quarter deliveries, but the introduction of these more affordable models is expected to help boost sales.

Critical to Tesla’s future, each new vehicle equipped with self-driving hardware increases the potential for drivers to participate in the Robotaxi network. Currently, pilot testing is underway in Austin, Texas, showcasing the tangible steps the company is taking toward its autonomous ride-sharing goals.
