Tesla’s Robotaxi Project Could Reach $250 Billion by 2035
Wolfe Research analyst Emmanuel Rosner estimates that Tesla’s autonomous vehicle (AV) initiative, Robotaxi, has the potential to generate $250 billion in revenue by 2035. This figure is based on the projection that the ride-hailing market will be divided into 30% from autonomous vehicles and 70% driven by humans. Rosner predicts that Tesla could command 50% of the robotaxi market and, assuming a charge of $1 per mile, calculate its market potential at an equity value of approximately $2.75 trillion.
While this forecast suggests significant financial upside, there are risks involved. The market for autonomous vehicles remains unproven, and consumer adoption may take longer than expected. Additionally, the development of Robotaxi requires substantial capital investment, which will strain Tesla’s financials until the technology scales. With Tesla’s current valuation considered high relative to its performance, Rosner’s predictions remain a topic of cautious optimism.
