Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A, BRK.B) is highlighted as a top investment choice for long-term savings. As of its latest Form 13F, the company manages a portfolio that includes over 40 equities valued at about $300 billion, alongside operating businesses that generated earnings of $37.4 billion in 2023, up from $27.6 billion in 2021.
Berkshire not only holds significant positions in major U.S. companies but also in five Japanese industrial conglomerates like Mitsubishi and Mitsui, representing about 9% of each. The company has outperformed the S&P 500 by more than double over the last five years and currently holds $325 billion in cash and equivalents.
Despite its success, Warren Buffett has tempered expectations for future performance, stating that “we have no possibility of eye-popping performance.” Berkshire Hathaway remains a recommended anchor investment for retirement portfolios.
