Warren Buffett on Microsoft Investment
Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, revealed that he never invested in Microsoft, despite its significant success, particularly due to his friendship with co-founder Bill Gates, who also served on Berkshire’s board. Buffett expressed concerns about the appearance of impropriety, stating that investing in Microsoft could lead to speculation about insider information if the company performed unexpectedly well.
Microsoft shares have surged 798% over the past decade, outpacing the S&P 500’s 241% increase in the same period. Buffett’s investment strategy typically involves companies he understands well, and he has been selective in tech investments, preferring to diversify Berkshire’s portfolio across various sectors without the potential conflicts an investment in Microsoft might create.
