Apple Transitions Leadership Amid Mixed Market Outlook

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has officially appointed John Ternus as its new CEO on September 1, 2023, replacing Tim Cook. Ternus, who previously served as senior vice president of hardware engineering, takes over at a critical juncture as the company grapples with recent stock declines despite reporting record quarterly revenue of over $109 billion.

In the second quarter, Apple maintained its lead in the smartphone market, with the iPhone holding five out of the top ten spots globally. However, the company projected revenue growth of only 9% to 11% for the current quarter, below analysts’ expectations of 12%, culminating in a 4.2% drop in stock price from July 30 to August 28. Looking ahead, Apple is scheduled to launch new products, including iPhones and potentially a foldable phone, on September 9, 2023.
