Amazon’s Growth and Performance Insights
Amazon’s net sales rose 17% in the latest quarter, the highest growth in over four years, largely driven by its cloud computing segment, Amazon Web Services (AWS), which saw a 28% increase in sales. Despite contributing only 20% of total revenue, AWS accounts for more than half of Amazon’s operating income, demonstrating its critical role in the company’s profitability.
The company is investing $200 billion to enhance its AI capabilities and is beginning to commercialize its custom AI chips, with Meta Platforms set to deploy its Graviton chips. Despite a 31% increase in stock value over the past year, Amazon’s valuation remains reasonable at 31 times this year’s adjusted earnings.
