Exploring Options on Southeast Asian Growth Stocks

Why We Favor the Top Performers

Since launching our Substack, we’ve tracked 78 cohorts of top ten names. On average, these picks returned 18.96% over the following six months, compared to 12.72% for the SPDR S&P 500 Trust ETF (SPY).

[Edit: Now encompassing 85 cohorts, we’ve seen returns of 19.43% versus 12.47% for SPY.]

The top names from June 20th showed an average increase of 37.46% in the same time frame, compared to 8.75% for SPY. Earlier trades we made would have yielded returns exceeding 200% for the top five stocks.

Final Trade Picks for 2024

Our last major trade for 2024 involves a company ranked fourth in our Monday night’s top ten list. Grab facilitates local delivery services similar to Uber‘s (UBER) Uber Eats and DoorDash (DASH) across Southeast Asia.

This stock outperformed expectations both in terms of revenue and profit during its recent earnings announcement, yet it has retraced to its pre-earnings trading level. The technical analysis rates it a 7 out of 10, with an overall rating of 8 out of 10.

Details are as follows.

Trading Strategy for Grab Holdings

The stock in question is Grab Holdings, Ltd. (GRAB), and we plan to buy $5.50 strike calls expiring on July 18th for $0.55. The potential maximum gain is unlimited, with a maximum loss limited to $330, leading to a break-even point at $6.05. My trade filled at $0.52.

Planned Exit Strategy

I will place a Good Till Canceled (GTC) order to exit half of these calls at $1.65, aiming to sell all by expiration.

Upcoming Earnings Report for Grab

Looking ahead, Grab Holdings is scheduled to announce its earnings before market opening on Friday. Traders may choose to wait for this report before committing to a position, which could save costs if the earning results disappoint. However, purchasing quickly might be more beneficial should the earnings exceed expectations.
