Tom Lee Predicts S&P 500 Could Reach 15,000 by 2030
Tom Lee, Head of Research at Fundstrat Global Advisors, forecasts the S&P 500 to reach 15,000 by the end of the decade, implying a 129% increase from its current level of 6,550. This prediction is driven by two key factors: the anticipated global labor shortage, which could reach 80 million workers by 2030, and the expected economic impact from millennials inheriting over $68 trillion in wealth.
Lee argues that businesses will increasingly adopt artificial intelligence to mitigate the labor shortage, thus propelling technology stocks to potentially represent 50% of the S&P 500. He also highlights that millennial spending habits will reshape the economy as they gain financial control. Historically, the S&P 500 has seen significant returns, standing at 284% over the last decade, or about 14.4% annually, underscoring the potential for long-term investment in index funds like the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF.
