Micron Technology Reports Major Growth Amid Supply Challenges

Micron Technology (NASDAQ: MU) reported a revenue increase of approximately 74% year-over-year, reaching a record $41.5 billion, largely driven by demand for memory hardware in AI data centers. Investors who invested $25,000 in Micron at the start of 2025 would see their stake grow to $261,000 today, reflecting a 943% gain. However, shares have declined about 28% from their peak as concerns about the sustainability of the current memory boom grow.

The company is investing $7.1 billion in capital expenditures to expand production capacity in the U.S. and Asia to meet rising demand. Despite the growth prospects, Micron faces challenges including potential overproduction and increased competition, particularly from Chinese memory maker CXMT, which recently went public and plans to ramp up high-bandwidth memory production.
