Cadence Design Systems Inc. (CDNS) has developed the first LPDDR5X 9600Mbps memory IP system solution for enterprise and data center applications, in partnership with Microsoft (MSFT). This innovative memory architecture aims to enhance performance, efficiency, and reliability, and Microsoft is its first customer, signifying a significant advancement in low-power memory systems for AI and HPC workloads.

The LPDDR5X solution merges Cadence’s high-speed IP with Microsoft’s RAIDDR error correction code (ECC) technology, supporting 40-bit LPDDR5X channels and delivering a robust performance of 9600 Mbps. This system allows data center architects to scale LPDDR5X deployment while maintaining enterprise-class reliability, crucial for mission-critical infrastructure.

By leveraging Cadence’s proven LPDDR5X IP and RAIDDR ECC, which offers industry-leading fault detection, this solution is poised to address the increasing demand for energy-efficient memory in growing AI infrastructures. Cadence also plans to introduce LPDDR6 memory IP operating at 14.4Gbps by July 2025, further solidifying its leadership in the memory subsystem market.
