Trump Administration Allocates $60 Million to Prometheus Project

The Trump Administration announced on Wednesday that the Prometheus project, aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into nuclear power design, will receive $60 million in federal funding. The initiative represents a significant investment in advanced nuclear technologies, with funding expected to span three years.

Key partners in this project include Tier 1 partner X-Energy, which is contributing $10 million, along with support from four of the Department of Energy’s National Laboratories: Idaho, Oak Ridge, Argonne, and Sandia. Other notable participants include start-ups Oklo and Standard Nuclear, enhancing their credibility within the nuclear sector.

The Prometheus project is part of a broader initiative by the Department of Energy that is funding 278 research projects as part of its Genesis Mission, making it one of the largest commitments to nuclear technology in decades.
