Lean hog futures fell by $1 to $1.50 during Tuesday’s trading session. The USDA reported a national base hog price of $84.07, up 66 cents from the previous day, while the CME Lean Hog Index decreased by 21 cents to $90.98 on October 30.
The USDA’s pork carcass cutout value dropped by $2.33 to $99.32 per cwt, with only the butt and rib primals showing price increases. Federally inspected hog slaughter for Monday was estimated at 493,000 head, matching the previous week and exceeding last year’s figure by 4,974 head.
Notable lean hog future prices include December 25 Hogs at $79.525, February 26 Hogs at $80.825, and April 26 Hogs at $85.075, all showing declines.
