As of midday Tuesday, the Utilities sector is leading with a gain of 0.2%. Xcel Energy Inc (XEL) increased by 2.0% and Eversource Energy (ES) rose by 1.7%. The Utilities Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLU) remains flat for the day but is up 14.35% year-to-date. Currently, XEL is down 8.01% year-to-date, while ES is up 0.68%. Together, they comprise approximately 4.7% of XLU’s holdings.
The Consumer Products sector follows closely with a 0.1% increase. Notable stocks include Kimberly-Clark Corp (KMB), which gained 2.6%, and Honeywell International Inc (HON) at 2.3%. The iShares U.S. Consumer Goods ETF (IYK) is up 0.8% on Tuesday and 5.80% year-to-date. KMB has increased by 14.86% this year, while HON is down 0.22%. KMB represents about 2.1% of IYK’s underlying holdings.
Among other sectors, Healthcare is down 0.1%, Financials are down 0.2%, and Energy has decreased by 1.0%. Overall, two sectors are up and seven are down as the S&P 500 components trade this Tuesday.
