Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Costco Wholesale (NASDAQ: COST) have seen significant stock price increases of 94% and 115%, respectively, over the past three years, outpacing the S&P 500’s 55% gain during the same period. Amazon’s e-commerce sales reached nearly $93 billion in the most recent quarter, while Costco’s sales for its fiscal 2025 third quarter hit about $62 billion, reflecting an 8% year-over-year growth.
As of now, Amazon holds approximately 38% of the U.S. e-commerce market share, far exceeding Walmart’s 6.4% and Target’s 1.9%. Moreover, Costco’s membership base increased to 140.6 million, with a 93% average renewal rate. Both companies are poised for continued growth, with Amazon investing $4 billion in rural delivery networks and Costco planning 24 new warehouses by the end of fiscal 2025.
